Bird

I am a bird.
Take note, I’ve taken flight.
Soaring, swooping, sweeping, dashing,
Sometimes falling, often crashing,
Only to get back up again.
But how would I know
To flap my wings, to aim to be tall,
If it weren’t for you, teaching me to soar.
And to see the whole sky as mine.
And how would I understand,
That there’s nothing I can’t do,
If it weren’t for you,
Telling me so.
So even though I’ve left the nest,
Don’t despair, don’t lose rest,
Yes I’m gone, and I’ve gone far,
But I’ll always come home,
Which is always where you are.
